In
addition to the Westmorland green roofing slates we are able to offer
to architects and tradesmen a superb quality light sea green roofing slate
- almost identical in shade of green to the Westmorland - in the form
of Vermont Green roofing slates from the Evergreen Slate Quarries in Vermont,
North America, for whom we are sole distributors throughout the UK and
Southern Ireland.
In
the Vermont slate there are three types of green available: two shades
of
the non-fading green which remain a constant green throughout the life
of the slate and the semi-weathering green which develops into a mixture
of soft, warm shades after being fixed on the roof for several months.
There is also a non-fading light grey with the faintest tint of green
almost identical to a Coniston (Westmorland) Mandall's Light Grey.
All
Vermont slates, as produced by the Evergreen Slate Quarries, conform
to the requirements of the British Standard

Specification
BSS 680, Part 2, 1971. They have also been approved by English Heritage
for the reslating of selected 'listed' properties.
The
Vermont slates are available in a full range of random lengths and widths.
Alternatively they can be supplied in any length with random widths
or in a sized slate. Special sizes for the refurbishment of old roofs
originally covered with very large sizes of Westmorland green slates
above 24" and up to 36" long can be made to order.
The
cost of Vermont Green roofing slates is only a fraction of the cost
per sq metre of the equivalent size range of Westmorland Green randoms.
